Mid-summer recap

Greetings from the luxurious, exotic, and miserably sweltering Branson, Mo.! It’s hard to believe it’s been about two months since I moved back home for the summer from Drury and blogged here. I’ve been anxious to catch any surviving readers up on my recent adventures, but my crazy (and otherwise exhausting) work schedule has forced most of my usual commentary to lie dormant somewhere deep in the fluff of my brain. But I had to rebound from my mental lull at some point, and considering I’m wearing my favorite pair of socks right now, now’s as good a time as ever to dust off my most relevant thoughts and catch everyone up to speed.

I’ve been working full time at the same summer job I’ve had for an eternity while simultaneously interning for a local entrepreneur that manages social media and digital content for various businesses. My internship has been a really pleasant experience thus far, and handling the digital presence of one business account in particular has graced me with a much more transparent understanding of digital marketing in action. That being said, I’ve also spent a lot of time thinking about the direction I want to take with my career, and I’m happy to report that my professional goals for the near future are now crystal clear, though they probably don’t directly reflect my major any longer. That’s a blog post for another day, but considering I have close friends that are currently struggling with the same sort of questions about what they want in a career, everyone should just know this: everything happens for a reason and everything will work out like it should!

Other than epiphanies previously hinted at, sweaty work days, and hangout time with everyone that didn’t go on a sweet-as-heck trip to Europe, I’ve had some cool mini-adventures of my own. I turned 21, picked blueberries at a farm, ran (“ran”) The Color Run in Kansas City, saw Incubus, Santigold, and Death Cab for Cutie live in concert, found a home for an adorable cat with a crooked tail, started learning to play an instrument, re-read Harry Potter as well as some great classics, and partook in plenty of other summertime staples with friends. That’s a pretty comprehensive list, but if you’re imagination-challenged, feel free to check out my Instagram pictures below.

Tomorrow I’ll be going on a cool little trip I’ve been planning to see one of my musical idols in concert, so stay tuned (yep, still as pun-tastic as ever, folks) for a blog post about that. In the mean time, I’m waiting impatiently to finish up the rest of the summer, move back to Springfield (semi-permanently this time!), and embark on my biggest adventure yet: senior year of college and beyond. Talk about an enigma. I miss everyone and everything Drury-related, but a reunion is just a few weeks away!
